Plumbing
If you have a leak or burst pipe, it’s important to get a plumber to you as soon as possible to limit the amount of damage.
We can also help you with all other plumbing services, including repairs, blockages, replacements and heating.
What does it cost to hire a Plumber?
Unless it’s an emergency call out, there are usually no call out fees for a Plumber. Emergency call out fees vary depending on location and what exactly the initial call out includes.
The price of some simple and quick plumbing jobs can be determined before visiting the customer’s property; most of which are below £100, including all parts and labour. For other larger jobs the plumber will need to visit the property and give a quote following an assessment of the work required.
It’s important to make sure you pay for a Plumber that will do the job correctly, first time. By getting people who are inexperienced or unqualified can lead to significant complications in the future.
Quality vs Price
There’s a lot of ways for customers to save money on cheaper options when it comes to plumbing. An experienced Plumber should be able to talk through your options when you’re looking to have work done.
For example, there’s a significant difference in price between copper and PVC pipe. A customer can save a lot of money by opting for PVC pipe. Copper is considered better for drinking water due to having natural antimicrobial properties and has an average lifespan of around 50-70 years. Whereas PVC is susceptible to damage and extreme temperatures.
The same considerations can be made for most plumbing jobs. Things like quality of plumbing fixtures and quality of installation hugely impact of the price of a job. A good quality plumber should be able to discuss all of this with you and go through your options.
What is an Emergency Plumber?
Most plumbing jobs can be scheduled in within a few days or weeks. However, other jobs require a Plumber to attend immediately. This is usually where an Emergency Plumber is required.
The benefits of an Emergency Plumber is that they will usually be with you within an hour, at any time of day or night. However, this does come with an emergency call out fee. This call out fee only covers the first hour of labour. Even though this can seem expensive, fixing broken pipes or leaks as quickly as possible can save vast amounts of money on property damage in the long run.
Emergency Plumbers will also sometimes charge a call out fee for call outs during the day. This is because of other work they may have to rearrange or have to leave at short notice to attend your incident.
Do I hire a plumber to fit my bathroom?
The problem with fitting a full bathroom is that you need most trades in one small place. Having someone who solely does plumbing to fit a full bathroom can become a problem, unless of course the customer just wants the plumbing element doing.
With a bathroom you also need a plasterer, a joiner, a tiler, a flooring installer, an electrician and a decorator.
We prefer to offer the full service. If you come to us for a bathroom, the only thing we want you to do after we leave is to decide on what towels match your new bathroom design! Leave the rest to us. We see having a new bathroom as a luxury and we like to leave the bathroom completely finished, allowing you to enjoy it as soon as we leave.
We cover everything from initial consultation, design, fit, everything to the last lick of paint.
How much does it cost for an outside tap?
A cost of an outside tap can vary depending on location of the tap, where the tap can be fed from, accessibility and quality of the tap itself. However, a typical cold water tap costs between £100 and £150.
The lowest cost solution is to have the tap installed on an exterior wall that’s attached to your kitchen, next to your sink. An experienced plumber should take one to two hours to install an outdoor tap, depending on how much additional work is needed.
Most plumbers will be able to supply an outdoor tap; however, if you decide to buy your own, you need to make sure it conforms to British Standards. Regulations stipulate that you need to have a check valve installed. This makes sure that the water can only flow in one direction and stops outside contaminates from entering your water supply.
